    About the course

This course is a laboratory-based science class emphasizing the function of the earth's systems. Emphasis is placed on the human interactions with the earth's geologic and environmental systems, predictability of a dynamic earth, origin and evolution of the earth system and universe, geochemical cycles and energy in the earth system.  This honors level course is designed to give the students a more challenging and in-depth knowledge of earth and environmental Science.

 

Course Standards:

Goal 1:  Explain the Earth’s role as a body in space.

Goal 2: Explain how processes and forces affect the lithosphere.

Goal 3: Understand how human influences impact the lithosphere.

Goal 4: Evaluate how humans use water.

Goal 5: Explain the structure and processes within the hydrosphere

Goal 6: Understand the structure of and processes within our atmosphere.

Goal 7: Analyze patterns of global climate change over time.

Goal 8: Explain how the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere individually and collectively affect the biosphere.

Goal 9: Evaluate human behaviors in terms of how likely they are to ensure the ability to live sustainably on Earth.
